Shantidoot faithfully complies with the provisions of Right to Information (RTI) Act 2005

To strengthen accountability of the Organization, make the organization more transparent and; authentic disclosure of information as per Right to Information Act 2005, the General Body of the organization unanimously took the decision to appoint a Principle Information Officer (PIO) and an Appellate Authority for the Organization. 


As per Resolution No. 10 of the General Body’s 18th meeting, held on 26th April 2009 (26.04.2009), following senior functionaries have been appointed as PIO and Appellate Authority of the Organization to furnish information sought under the provisions of RTI Act 2005 .

Information can be sought under following terms & conditions


    The person seeking information under RTI Act 2005 must be an Indian citizen residing in India.
    The information sought must be concerned with the organization and its programmes.
The application seeking information under RTI Act 2005 must be addressed, in writing, to –

The PIO-cum-Director, Shantidoot, Kaghzi Mohalla, Old Jail Road, Biharsharif, Nalanda, PIN - 803 101 (Bihar).



    Processing fee of Rs. 10 (Rs. Ten only), in cash/IPO/Demand Draft payable at Biharsharif, District – Nalanda, must be accompanied with the application under RTI Act 2005.
    Application and the Processing Fee may be submitted by hand or registered/speed post.


    Additional fee, at the rate of Rs. 5 (Rs. Five only) per page, may be demanded by the PIO for furnishing information of more than four A-4 size pages.
    The PIO is bound to furnish information sought within 30 days of receipt of application.
The PIO may decline to furnish information if the information sought –
    infringes upon or may harm unity, integrity, religious harmony, security or policies of the country.
    may incite violence or criminal activities.
    is banned by any court of law or disclosure of which is ‘contempt of court’.
    may put danger to the life of any person.
    relates to disclosure of ‘personal information’ and which is not in common public benefit.

Any Applicant can go to the ‘Appellate Authority’ if –


    The PIO declines to accept the application under RTI Act 2005.
    the information sought is not furnished within stipulated time frame.
    no information is given within 30 days.
    the PIO unduly demands more than the prescribed fee.
    the PIO declines to furnish information without any valid reason.
    the applicant is not satisfied with the given information.

Appeal to the ‘Appellate Authority’ of the organization,  under RTI Act 2005, may be addressed to -  The Appellate Authority-cum-Chairman, Shantidoot, Kaghzi Mohalla, Old Jail Road, Biharsharif, Nalanda - 803 101 (Bihar).
